The Hotel Grand Pacific’s Kitchen team is growing! We’re looking to add another First Cook to our close-knit team. An independent 4-star property, we provide a friendly work environment and support the internal growth of our culinary staff. The selected candidate will be preparing quality products for our Pacific Restaurant. This is an exciting time to join as our restaurant is having its renovation completed this summer.

Description of Duties:

  • Prepare, cook and present foods by maintaining the standards and consistency established by the kitchen management team
  • Supervise and train staff in a designated section of the kitchen
  • Assist in planning and execution of Banquet menus and other menus as assigned
  • Develop new designs and recipes, including testing and tasting of recipes
  • Follow the latest trends in culinary arts
  • Monitor and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness within the kitchen
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Abilities:

  • Minimum 2 years of well-rounded culinary experience
  • Red Seal Certification and Food Safe
  • Accountable for all decisions made during a shift
  • Ability to effectively delegate when required
  • Previous supervisor/leadership experience is an asset
  • Available to work more than 30 hours per week
  • Available to work early mornings or evenings

Salary: $24.46 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Evening shift
  • Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Victoria, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Experience:

  • Cooking: 3 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Red Seal (preferred)
  • FoodSafe (preferred)
